A Classic Riddle in the United States
What has five eyes and crosses most of the United States?
Contestant: "I'll take Classic Riddles for $400". Alex Trebek: "It has five eyes and crosses most of the United States". Contestant: What is The Mississippi River? Alex Trebek: Correct!
There is a word in the English language in which the first two letters signify a male, the first three letters signify a female, the first four signify a great man, and the whole word, a great woman. What is the word?

I am not really that much of an american so can some one explain how the mississippi river has eyes? Or else I would have to say a potato rolling across america, that has eyes :)
