Can you go from September to July using the clues?
S E P T E M B E R
_ _ _ 1 2 3 4 _ _ : Clue: Hygenic
_ _ 2 3 4 _ _ _ _ : Clue: Anthropod
_ _ _ 3 4 5 _ _ : Clue Numerous
J U L Y
U L are the same as the second and third letters in the word above.
I couldn't get it to line-up properly, so I used numbers to indicate which of the preceding words letters the word has in common. For instance, in the second line 1 2 3 4 indicates the first, second, third and fourth letter in SEPTEMBER (i.e. SEPT) are the letters. In the next line, the second, third and fourth letter from the previous word (hygenic) are the same.
I'm posting one puzzle, riddle, math, or statistical problem a day. Try to answer each one and post your answers in the comments section. I'll post the answer the next day. Even if you have the same answer as someone else, feel free to put up your answer, too!

It goes September: antiseptic: multiple : July.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had been able to line things up properly, but I have a tough time doing it.
Wait, what comes after antiseptic and before multiple?
ReplyDeleteThis one totally stumped me...
Oops, sorry about that.
ReplyDeleteSeptember: Antiseptic: Centipede: Multiple: July.
Thanks for pointing that out Tabitha.
Ah -- that's better. Although, if we get nitpicky, there's also the problem of the third line after September: the letters repeated from the above line should be the 4th, 5th, and 6th. Otherwise the word would come out "mul-NTI-le"... Also, there should be four blanks before "1 2 3 4" in the first line after September: ANTI-SEPT-IC"
ReplyDeleteNo wonder I couldn't figure it out! :-P
Keep up the great work!
Just keep being nitpicky. I need all the help I can get. There are some weeks I can't get these question right.
ReplyDeleteThanks again, Tabitha.
.. um,is it metamorphose?
ReplyDeleteAs in, like, a caterpillar turning into a cocoon and then coming out as a butterfly in July?
Correct me if I'm wrong
