What number should logically replace the question mark?
7
17
8 1/2
14 1/4
10
11 1/2
?
Sorry about the formatting. I don't know how to get 1/2 to look right. To be clear, if I was using decimals, the third number is 8.5, then the next number is 14.25.
I'm posting one puzzle, riddle, math, or statistical problem a day. Try to answer each one and post your answers in the comments section. I'll post the answer the next day. Even if you have the same answer as someone else, feel free to put up your answer, too!

ans is 11 1/2
ReplyDelete7 + 1.5 = 8 1/2 ; 17 - 2.75 = 14.25
8.5 + 1.5 = 10 ; 14.25 - 2.75 = 11.5
10 + 1.5 = 11.5 ;
To make ¼, ½, and ¾ press and hold the ALT key and press 0188, 0189, or 0190 respectively on the NUMBER pad of the keyboard.
ReplyDeleteVery cool, thanks Howie!
ReplyDeleteThe answer is 11½. The pattern is skipping every other number, so that it goes 7, 8½, 10, 11½; and the other pattern is heading down, 17, 14¼, 11½, ...
