There's one sport in which neither the spectators nor the participants know the score or the leader until the contest ends. What is it?
There are eight ways a baseball player can legally reach first base without getting a hit. Name them.
I'm posting one puzzle, riddle, math, or statistical problem a day. Try to answer each one and post your answers in the comments section. I'll post the answer the next day. Even if you have the same answer as someone else, feel free to put up your answer, too!

boxing? arm wrestling?
ReplyDelete1) walk
2) hit by pitch
3) error
4) fielder's choice
5) strike three - passed ball
6) fielder interference
7) catcher interference
8) umpire interference
I'm not sure if all three different types of interference were what you were looking for there. Maybe "pinch-running" could be one, but the original batter would still have to reach on one of the other ways...
Fencing?
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of boxing. I have no idea about arm wrestling, but can't you tell who's in the lead based on where the arms are positioned? Fencing is scored as you go along, right? There are points that are declared? I've never watched a match, so I'm not going to say one way or another.
ReplyDeleteAbe, I was thinking of:
balk
walk
hit by pitch
defensive interference
fielders choice
dropped third strike
pinch runner
error
9) if the player is real smooth, he can get to first base with one of the fans...
ReplyDelete1.Base on balls/walk.
ReplyDelete2.Hit by pitch.
3.Error.
4.Fielder's choice.
5.Catcher interference.
6.Called third strike not caught.
7.Batted ball hits an umpire or runner before.
contact with a fielder.
8. Fielder's choice
And the most common one is Base on balls/walk.
